What to expect during the session for your child:
Children will work with staff in small playgroups engaging in preschool activities such as small group story time, art activity, motor room play, and a snack.
Staff will be looking for:
- The child's ability to separate from you to go into the classroom.
- The child's play skills (can they take turns, do they engage appropriately with peers and toys)
- The child's language skills (students who are 3-4 years old should speak in sentences and communicate their basic needs)
- The child's self- care skills (students should be able to wash and dry their hands, use the potty with minimal assistance, take off their jacket etc.)
What to expect during the session for parents:
Parents will meet with preschool staff to answer questions regarding the preschool program. You will have the opportunity to tour the preschool areas so you can see where your child will spend his or her time. You will be asked to complete some additional paperwork that is required by The Ohio Department of Education for your child to attend our preschool.
What to expect after the meet and greet:
You will receive an email with your child’s teacher and session information in June 2023. You will receive a 23-24 school calendar that outlines school days, holidays, teacher conferences, and professional development days for staff. You will receive a school supply list and information about what your child will need for school. In August, prior to the start of school you will be invited back to meet with your child’s teacher, drop off supplies, discuss your child’s needs and get transportation information.
