Re: Ohio’s State Assessments
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Beginning in February, your child will participate in Ohio’s New State Tests. We have been working diligently to prepare your child for these assessments, as they are more rigorous and challenging than previous state tests.
This year, the state of Ohio has offered school districts the opportunity to take the assessment online or paper pencil. The elementary administrative team determined the paper pencil option would allow our students the best opportunity to be most successful. This year students in 3rd grade will only take the new Math Assessment. It was recently announced that 3rd grade students would participate in the Reading Ohio Achievement Assessment instead of the new English Language Art or ELA assessment this spring. Students in 4th grade will take the new English Language Arts or ELA, Math and Social Studies.
Please know that we are working diligently to prepare our students to participate in the online format for the 2015/2016 school year.
If you would like more information and resources to practice with your student you may visit the following websites. They are http://parcconline.org/for-parents, www. ode.state.oh.us and http://nextgen.nwoca.org/.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
