High School Credit Options Meeting Documents
These documents were available at the high school credit options meeting and provide information about the new High School Next Generation Assessments.
High School Credit Options
New graduation requirements have been recently enacted in Ohio. We want to make sure that families understand how these changes will impact your student, especially students interested in earning high school credit this year.
Below you will find information regarding math and science courses eligible for high school credit, how credit may be earned, and how it is awarded for students in the 7th and 8th grade across the district. We are recommending that families who would like to consider this option and whose student(s) are demonstrating excellent and consistent achievement of grade level standards attend a parent informational meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 13 from 7:00-8:00 PM at Hannah Ashton Middle School. The intent form will need to be completed and submitted by January 15, 2015.
Standards Based Grading

Standards-based grading and reporting helps to provide an accurate picture of student achievement in regards to Ohio Learning Standards. These standards-based grades will help teachers plan their instruction so they can challenge and support all students. Standards-based reporting will help parents know the academic areas in which a student meets expectations, needs challenge, or needs support.

Random Acts of Kindness
Congratulations to our first set of students who were honored for their Random Acts of Kindness. Each week, school staff nominate students who go out of their way to complete good deeds for fellow students, staff and others. This, in turn, helps students develop self-discipline and a sense for helping others. Students receive coupons for areas businesses, a useful school supply and a choice from the candy basket!
