Team Iron Man Barbie Bungee
Integrated Math 1 students collected data on how the length of a rubber band bungee cord affected the depth a bungee jump that a Barbie Doll could make. The students made conjectures before we started data collection, so it mimicked a science lab. Then, the students created scatterplots and drew lines of best fit. They found equations for the lines they drew both by hand by calculating the slope and then finding the y intercept, and by using the graphing calculator features to create linear regression models. Using the models they created, students then predicted the number of rubber bands that Barbie would need in order to safely make a jump from 400 cm.
Jaret Crist is Statewide Winner
Jaret Crist has been named the statewide 8th grade writing winner of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission's 2016 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Art, Writing, and Multimedia Contest. "This contest is intended to encourage students to reflect upon Dr. King's life, philosophy, and impact on the Civil Rights movement and present day America." Jaret was honored at an awards ceremony and reception by Leonard Hubert, chairman of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and Cynthia Dungey, Director of Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.
